Transfer between accounts in an organisation

You can move funds between accounts in the same organisation to manage liquidity more easily.

Before you begin

To create a transfer between accounts:

  • You must have Transfer create/edit permission on the source account to select and send from it,
  • You can see all accounts in the organisation as destination accounts,
  • You need View balance permission to see the balance of the destination account.

Transfers between accounts are subject to your organisation’s transfer approval workflow, using the same approval flow as transfers to external payees.

For the New Airwallex WebApp Experience (Beta phase):

If you see "Business Accounts" in the left navigation column, you're on the new Airwallex experience.  If you don't see this then please refer to steps outlined under "For the existing Airwallex Webapp Experience"

Use this feature to transfer funds between your organisation’s account, including Yield and Credit accounts, without manually entering destination account details.

How to transfer funds between accounts

  1. Go to Business account in Airwallex.
  2. Select Transfer > Internal transfer
  3. Select the “from account” and “to account” from your organisation’s account list.
  4. Enter the transfer amount and required details.
  5. Submit the transfer.

If your organisation uses approvals, the transfer will be sent for approval before it is completed.

What you’ll see after the transfer is settled

Once settled, the transfer can appear in both accounts’ transaction history:

  • The from account shows a debit entry
  • The destination account shows a credit entry

A transfer confirmation letter is also available for download after the transfer is created or approved. It includes the source and destination account details.

Limitations

Transfers between accounts in an organisation is not supported through the Client API. API customers can still use Airwallex Pay to initiate a transfer using the destination account details, and fees may apply.

Availability may also vary depending on the entity or region associated with the account.

For the existing Airwallex Webapp Experience:

If you don't see "Business Accounts" in the left navigation column, you're on the old Airwallex experience. You will be migrated to the new WebApp experience soon as we gradually roll it out.
