This article is based on Klarna's Partner marketing legal guidelines for the United Kingdom.
The UK BNPL regulation date is 15 July 2026. Klarna's standard on-site messaging and the Klarna payments flow will both be updated automatically by Klarna — you do not need to take any action in relation to either of these.
However, Klarna has updated their partner marketing legal guidelines for the UK to reflect the new regulatory requirements for Deferred Payment Credit (or BNPL).
If you use any custom promotions, banners, or content on your site that sit outside Klarna's on-site messaging and payment flow, you will need to update these to align with the new guidelines. This includes any bespoke references to Pay Later, Pay in 3 or the regulated status of Klarna’s payment options.
For example, if the following line is included in a disclosure, or described in an FAQ, this needs to be removed as it will no longer be accurate:
Klarna’s interest free and pay up to 12 months Financing agreements, Pay in 3 instalments and Pay in 30 days agreements are not regulated by the FCA.
Please make any necessary updates between 13 July and 15 July 2026. Changes should not be made before 13 July and should be in place by 15 July.
If you are unsure whether your site uses custom content that requires updating, or if you need support, please contact your Klarna account manager or reach out to merchant support.
