Documents required for companies in Mexico

This article details the documents required for organisations to open an account with Airwallex if your business is registered in Mexico.

About verification

Verification, known as KYC or 'Know Your Customer', is a process required by regulators to offer financial services to organisations and individuals. It involves reviewing and maintaining information on the parties that use our financial services.

Below, we have provided details on the documents required for organisations to open an account with Airwallex if your business is registered in Mexico. Please have your company's registration details and the identity documents of your key people ready before you begin.

Business Documents

  1. Acta Constitutiva (Formation Document)
  2. Constancia de Situación Fiscal (CSF)
  3. Serial Number of the FIEL
  4. Beneficial Ownership (UBOs)

Additional Requirements

  1. Proof of Address
  2. Organization Chart (recommended)
  3. Contact Details
  4. Personal Information
  5. Licenses, Professional Credentials, or Permits (recommended)

Business Documents

The core documents that confirm your company's legal existence, registration status and ownership structure.

Acta Constitutiva — Formation Document (Required)

Provide your company's Acta Constitutiva. This document shows your company's legal name, bylaws, shareholder/ownership structure, date of incorporation, business line/activity/corporate purpose, and nationality.

Keeping ownership information current If your company has an updated corporate document — an Asamblea — that supersedes the original Acta (for example, in relation to powers of attorney, ownership, or bylaws), please provide the Asamblea instead, as it will contain the most current shareholder percentages.

Constancia de Situación Fiscal — CSF (Required)

Provide your Constancia de Situación Fiscal. This is your official tax registration document and contains your entity's tax ID (RFC — Registro Federal de Contribuyentes) as well as a QR code linking to the Mexican government registry for your entity.

  • The RFC on the CSF is used as your tax ID / EIN equivalent.
  • Please make sure the company name on the CSF matches the name of the business opening the Airwallex account, and matches the name on your Acta Constitutiva.

Serial Number of the FIEL — Firma Electrónica Avanzada (Required)

Please provide an image showing the Serial Number of your FIEL together with an "Active" status, as shown on the SAT certificate recovery system. A screenshot is acceptable.

Beneficial Ownership (UBOs)

A Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) is an individual who holds 25% or more of the company's shares, directly or indirectly. Where we cannot determine the ownership structure from your constitutional documents, we may ask for additional documentation.

Please provide a complete ownership structure using your Acta Constitutiva or Asamblea (whichever is most current) that lets us confirm the full ownership chain, identifying each shareholder and their percentage of ownership.
