Your Borderless cash account lists your balances by three distinct types of balances: Available balance, Total balance, and Reserved balance. Each currency also provides a similar level of segmentation. This article aims to explain the meaning of each of these balances.
For the existing Airwallex Webapp Experience:
If you don't see "Business Accounts" in the left navigation column, you're on the old Airwallex experience. You will be migrated to the new WebApp experience soon as we gradually roll it out.
Cash Balances is displayed on the top of the Wallet page by currencies, and each currency Cash balance will display three distinct types of balances: Available balance, Account balance, and Reserved balance.
Noticeably, you may also see other balances on the Wallet page in addition to Cash Balances based on your product usage, and will aggregate to your Total balance.
Total balance
Your Total balance represents the cumulative amount of funds present in your account. It is calculated by combining your Available balance and Reserve balance. Note that scheduled transactions do not impact your balances until settlement date.
Available balance
Your available balance represents the funds that are currently accessible for making transactions. It is subject to regular updates throughout the day as you initiate transfers, conversions, or as funds are settled into your account.
Pending/Reserve balance
The Pending balance comprises all funds that are temporarily held such as pending card transactions and pending refunds for online payments acquired through Airwallex.
The Reserved balance comprises funds reserved from online payments batch settlements as well as fixed reserves. Pending or reserved funds can be returned to the Available balance in situations such as the cancellation of a pending card transaction or the release of a reserved online payment refund.
Cash Balance charts
Your account page also displays charts that help you track your Cash Balance over time. The chart shows:
- Current cash balance: Shows your Cash Balance as it stands right now.
- Historical cash balance: Shows how your Cash Balance has changed over time, using your end-of-day balance for each past day.
The end-of-day balance is the closing balance recorded at the last moment of each day (23:59:59). Your Historical Cash Balance uses your browser's timezone, so each day's end-of-day balance is the closing value at 23:59:59 in that timezone.
