How do I set up my Xero Bank Feed?

If you are a user of Xero and wish to link your Airwallex Bank Feed to your Xero account, kindly follow the instructions provided below. Please check that you have an “Admin” in User Management to manage Xero connections. Refer to our guide to manage user permissions. It is important to note that the bank feed connection will only sync transactions that impact your currency wallets. We also provide several other Xero connections which can be found in our additional help articles.

Steps to Connect Bank Feed

  1. Log in to your Airwallex account and navigate to Connections: Select Settings → Connections from the left sidebar.
  2. Select Xero: search and select the Xero tile → Bank Feed
  3. If you are not already logged into Xero, you will be prompted to log in using your Xero credentials. On the Xero authorization page, use the dropdown menu to choose the Xero organization(s) you wish to connect to Airwallex.

Review the requested permissions and click Continue with [X] organisation(s) to complete the connection.
  4. Map Airwallex entities to Xero organisations: match each Airwallex entity to its corresponding Xero organisation, then click Continue when you’re done. Each Airwallex entity can only be connected to one Xero organisation.
  5. Select Airwallex currencies for which you want to create a bank feed in Xero. Once selected and confirmed, you will have a new bank feed under the specified currency in Xero. We recommend connecting all currencies that you may transact in at any point in the future. Click Continue to proceed.

Note: Basic Xero accounts only support bank feeds in your home currency. To enable bank feeds in multiple currencies, you will need a Xero premium account.

Note: Airwallex uses a standardised naming convention for each account: AWX_{acct nickname}_{CCY}, where CCY is the currency of the wallet balance. This format helps prevent duplicate account names when customers select a Xero account that is already connected to another Airwallex account. Although you can rename this in Xero, it is not recommended.
  6. Review the mapping, then click Complete. Your transactions will now sync to Xero automatically.

Troubleshooting Your Bank Feed Connection

How the Automated Sync Works

To ensure your data is accurate and settled, the integration follows these logic rules:

  • Initial Sync: When you first enable a currency, we automatically backfill the last 7 days of transactions. This happens in stages and may take up to 6 hours to fully catch up.
  • Ongoing Frequency: Our automated sync runs in the background. Due to high volume, your account will update approximately every 2 hours.
  • The 4-Hour Buffer: To ensure data accuracy, transactions from the last 4 hours are not included in any sync. For example, a sync at 3:00 PM will include transactions settled up to 11:00 AM.
  • 90-Day Limit: The automated sync only looks back up to 90 days. If your feed has been inactive longer than that, the sync will resume from the 90-day mark.

Need Older Transactions?
If you need to import data beyond the initial 7-day backfill, you can manually trigger a Historical Sync:

  • Range: Sync up to 365 days of history.
  • Date Limit: The earliest end-date available for manual sync is yesterday (today's transactions are covered by the automated 4-hour buffer logic).

Note: Yield wallet transactions may take several days to generate before they are eligible to sync.
