How do I set up the Walmart connection to receive payouts?

Introduction

With Walmart Marketplace Deposits connection, you can receive Walmart Marketplace payouts directly into your Airwallex USD or CAD Global Account via secure bank transfer.

Who can configure this connection: Owners, Admin users, and Finance Admin users. Learn more about User Access Management.

Availability: This connection is available only to Airwallex customers in Hong Kong, China, and Canada who hold a USD and/or CAD Global Account, connecting to their Walmart Marketplace Seller account.

This setup guide covers:

Setup Instructions

Part 1: Prerequisites – Prepare Your Walmart Seller Account

Before initiating the connection from Airwallex, make sure the following conditions are met:

  • Possession of an Airwallex USD and/or CAD Global Account.
    • Important: If you have just created this Global Account, wait at least 48 hours before adding it in your Walmart Seller Center. Walmart's system can take up to 48 hours to recognise a newly created Airwallex Global Account, and adding it too soon will likely cause the connection to fail.
  • Your onboarding status is marked as "ACTIVE" in Walmart — otherwise Airwallex may not be able to obtain your entity information.
  • The business registration number and country of incorporation listed on your Airwallex account exactly match the corresponding information on your Walmart Seller account.

Part 2: Initiate Connection from Airwallex

Once the prerequisites above are met, set up the connection through the Airwallex WebApp:

  1. Log in to your Airwallex account.
  2. Navigate to Connections: select Settings → Connections from the left sidebar.
  3. Under the eCommerce section, find the Walmart Marketplace connection tile, then click Get started on the Deposits tile.

Just created this Global Account? Wait 48 hours before completing this step — see Part 1: Prerequisites above. Adding a brand-new GA here before Walmart has recognised it is one of the most common reasons this step fails.

  2. Fill in the necessary details to add Airwallex as a payment method, then click Next. You will be required to log in to your Walmart account if you are not yet logged in.
  3. Once logged in, you will be brought to the Walmart authorisation page — select Authorize. This allows Airwallex to connect to your Walmart account.

Managing Your Walmart Connection

How to reconnect an invalid connection

Head to your Walmart connection home page: Settings → Connections → Walmart Marketplace.

Figure 6: Managing connected Walmart stores — view, disconnect, or connect a new store.

From this page, you'll be able to:

  • View connected stores: see all Walmart stores currently linked, or connect a new store.
  • Reconnect: if your Walmart store connection status shows as Invalid, click Reconnect to restore a faulty connection.

Before reconnecting, check when your Global Account was created. If it was created within the last 48 hours, this sync delay — not a genuine data mismatch — is a common cause of "Invalid" status, and reconnecting will not help until the 48-hour window has passed.
  • Disconnect: removes the store connection; deposits will no longer sync to Airwallex until you reconnect.

Scenarios that can prevent successful payouts

Certain situations can disrupt successful payout reception. If a Walmart deposit is pending, Airwallex may show a task banner prompting you to complete your connection setup. Here's what to watch out for

  1. Newly created Global Account: if your GA was created less than 48 hours ago, Walmart may not yet have synced it, and binding or payments can fail with a generic error. Wait 48 hours after creation, then retry.
  2. Entity information mismatch or connection error: payouts might fail if your business registration number or country of incorporation on Airwallex and Walmart don't align. This could also stem from a faulty connection.

  3. Missing connection: the absence of a connection between Airwallex and Walmart can prevent validation of your business details.

If any of these issues arise, Airwallex can retain the funds for 14 days, offering time for resolution before funds are returned to Walmart.
