Linking an external bank account to your Borderless Cash account lets you add funds via Direct Debit — a pull-based method where Airwallex initiates a transfer from your external bank into your Borderless Cash account (see How to link your external bank account to Airwallex).
This article explains how to view your existing Linked bank accounts and what the deactivation notice means.
Direct Debit is only available to businesses registered in the following countries:
- Australia
- Hong Kong
- New Zealand
- Singapore
- United States
If you’re not a business registered in the above regions, adding funds via Direct Debit is not available. See How to link your external bank account to Airwallex) for other options.
View your Linked bank accounts
First, open your Borderless Cash account page:
- In the left menu, select Business Accounts. The section expands to show your favourited accounts and a Show all link.
- In the expanded list, select the account name to open its page.
- Select the Linked bank accounts tab.
If the account is not in the list:
- Select the Business Accounts menu item again, or select Show all, to open the Business Accounts overview.
- In the accounts table, select the account row. Alternatively, select the row's ⋯ button, then select View details.
- Select the Linked bank accounts tab.
The Linked Bank Accounts page shows all current and past bank accounts in your Borderless Cash account. This is shown in a table with the following columns:
- Linked bank account: name of the bank
- Bank account details: the account name held at your bank, with the account number beneath it
- Status: current status of the linked account
- Direct debit: whether Direct Debit is enabled for this linked account. If this is enabled, Airwallex can pull funds from the Linked bank account into your Borderless Cash account when you initiate an add-funds request. Settlement takes 0–4 business days depending on the local direct debit scheme and cutoff time (see How long does it take to add funds to my Airwallex Borderless cash accounts via direct debit).
On this page, certain actions are available for finding information and managing your Linked bank accounts:
- Filters: select Filters to open the filter panel and narrow results by Linked bank account, Bank account details, Status, or Direct debit.
- Search: use the search field to find a specific Linked bank account by name or details.
-
Select the ⋯ button on a listed Linked bank account to:
- Verify bank account: see How to link your external bank account to Airwallex
- Remove bank account: a confirmation window appears. Select Yes, remove it to remove this Linked bank account

Airwallex has received your bank-account details, but verification is not complete yet. Select Verify bank account to view details and proceed with the verification. See How to link your external bank account to Airwallex This is an in-progress status, not a rejection. |
| In review | Airwallex is reviewing this bank account. No action is needed from you. |
| Failed to verify | Verification could not be completed on the bank account and it is not available for Airwallex use. |
| Deactivated | No longer available for use as the link has been disabled, suspended or is no longer usable. |
What deactivation means
If a Linked bank account has been deactivated, a notice banner appears at the top of the Linked bank accounts tab. The banner provides information about the deactivation. Selecting the X will close the banner for your current session.
A Deactivated Linked bank account can no longer be used for Direct Debit top-ups. The account remains visible in the Linked bank accounts table with its Deactivated status displayed.
If you need to use a deactivated Linked bank account again, you can create a new Linked bank account with the same details. If that fails, talk to Kai for guidance on the appropriate next steps.
Seeing a different version of the Airwallex platform?
You may be on the previous version of the Airwallex platform. See Revamped Airwallex experience: one place to run your whole business (beta) for more information on the change.
The best way to confirm if you are on the previous version is to check your left sidebar column for any mention of Business Accounts. In the same sidebar, you can also check that you do not see Wallet or Transfers.
Certain actions and pages may not be visible if you have not been given sufficient global or account permissions.
