How do I use my Airwallex card with Apple Pay?

This article explains how to add your Airwallex card to Apple Pay, use it for payments, and manage it across your devices.

Apple Pay is supported on Employee cards only. Company cards are not compatible with Apple Pay or any digital wallet.

Availability

Apple Pay for Airwallex Employee cards is available in regions where Apple Pay is supported. Confirm that Apple Pay is available in your country before proceeding.

Before you start

  • You must be the assigned cardholder of an active Airwallex Employee card. Apple Pay cannot be added to a card that is frozen, expired, or not yet activated.

  • Your registered mobile number on your Airwallex account must be current, as it is used for identity verification during setup.

Add your card to Apple Pay

You can add your Employee card to Apple Pay using one of three methods.

From your Airwallex account

  1. In the left sidebar, select the Spend menu item.

  2. Select Cards from the Spend navigation.

  3. Select your Employee card from the cards list.

  4. Select the Add to Apple Wallet button.

Your card is provisioned to Apple Pay and appears in the Wallet app.

From iPhone Settings

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings, select Wallet & Apple Pay, then select Add Card.

  2. Scan your card or enter the details manually.

  3. When asked for a billing address, enter the business address registered with your Airwallex account.

  4. Enter the verification code sent to your registered mobile number.

Your card is added to Apple Pay once verification is complete.

From the Wallet app

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.

  2. Select the + (add) button in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Debit or Credit Card.

  4. Enter your card number, expiry date, and security code.

  5. When prompted for cardholder name, enter the name shown on your Airwallex account.

  6. Select Next, then enter the verification code sent to your registered mobile number.

Your card is added to Apple Pay once verification is complete.

Resolve activation errors

If you see the message Card Not Added – Contact Your Issuer during setup, this is an Apple security check — it does not mean your Airwallex account has a problem.

To resolve this, contact Airwallex support via the Kai chatbot with the following details:

  • Your full name

  • Your business name

  • The last 4 digits of your card number

  • Your date of birth

Airwallex aims to complete the verification within approximately 2 business hours.

Manage your card on multiple devices

You can add your Employee card to multiple Apple devices linked to the same Apple ID. Most devices support up to 12 cards; older models support up to 8. If you have reached the device limit, remove an existing card from another device before adding your Airwallex card.

Your Apple Watch manages cards independently from your iPhone. Adding or removing a card from your Watch does not affect the cards on your iPhone, and vice versa.

Remove your card from a lost or stolen device

If your device is lost or stolen, take one or more of the following steps:

  1. Use the Find My app on another device to suspend the card from the affected device by putting the device in Lost mode (see Use Find My to locate your lost Apple device or AirTag).

  2. Remove your Airwallex card payment method from your Apple Account. Sign in to the Apple website with your Apple ID or another Apple device, select the payment method and remove (see Remove a payment method from your Apple Account).

  3. Contact Airwallex support via the Kai chatbot to suspend the card.

  4. Freeze the card in your Airwallex account:

    1. In the left sidebar, select the Spend menu item.

    2. Select Cards from the Spend navigation.

    3. Select the card you want to freeze.

    4. Select the Freeze button on the card detail panel.

View Apple Pay transactions

To see transactions made through Apple Pay, use either of the following methods.

In your Airwallex account:

  1. In the left sidebar, select the Spend menu item.

  2. Select Cards from the Spend navigation.

  3. Select the Transactions tab to view all card transactions, or select an individual card and view its activity in the card detail panel.

On your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings, select Wallet & Apple Pay, then select your card.

  2. View the transaction history in the card panel.

Apple Pay transactions appear identically in both locations.

Common issues and recovery

Card Not Added – Contact Your Issuer error

See Resolve activation errors above.

Card is not available to add to Apple Pay

Check that your Employee card is in Active status and is not frozen or expired. Only active, unfrozen Employee cards can be provisioned to Apple Pay. To check card status, select the Employee card in the Cards list and review the status on the card detail panel.

Only Employee cards are compatible with Apple Pay. See How do I choose between a Company card and Employee card? for a guide on which card type fits your needs.

Verification code not received

Check that the mobile number on your Airwallex account is correct and current. If the code does not arrive within a few minutes, contact Airwallex support via the Kai chatbot.

Device limit reached

Remove a card from another device via the Wallet app on that device or via your Apple ID account settings at appleid.apple.com. Once a slot is freed, retry adding your Airwallex card.

Apple Pay payment declined

Apple Pay declines are typically caused by the same underlying issues as other card declines: a spending limit has been reached, or the Borderless Cash account has insufficient funds. See Why your card transation declined for the full troubleshooting steps.
